Digital Deep Clean (before holidays) 😱😷

Hello Wonderful.
Last year, we asked our friend Annie Galvin from 3 Fish Studios (and illustrator of The What every week) to draw her signature California bear in a fire helmet to honor the firefighters battling the blazes in Napa and Los Angeles. So, it's absolutely heartbreaking that this image is poignant again one year later. Fifty-nine known victims have lost their lives, 9,000 homes have been destroyed, 130 people are unaccounted for, and 52,000 people have been forced to evacuate. We live miles from the fires but the sky is thick with smoke and the red sun hangs in a sea of milky grey haze. Hug your loved ones tightly and be grateful you are alive then read this article in The New York Times and find ways you can be helpful. Annie and our friends at 3 Fish have a California Wildfire Fundraising Bundle of art with 100% of the proceeds going to charity.

The What List

100% Editorial picks. No pay for play. Ever.

The Books. In case you missed it last week, here are the books that made it into our Top 10 of the Year: The What Book Report 2018.

The Digital. When is the last time you looked at your online subscriptions? We were recently updating info on PayPal and came across a long list of Apps on monthly autopay that we downloaded and forgot about. Here's some handy advice from Popular Science on how to to track and manage your digital drain.

The Cookery.  We were at a fashion press lunch the other day and overheard a conversation about Great Jones. They do for pots and pans what Parachute does for linens. If you're a fan of Le Creuset but wish it were more affordable, your dreams just came true.

The Cozy.  Every year we link to a cozy blanket for the holidays and this one is just the right size and softness for two (or more if kids are part of the snugglefest).

The Song.  If you love music and have a nerdy curiosity about how and why things are made, you're going to be obsessed with the podcast Songexploder. And if you love Chan Marshall like we do, known by her fans as Cat Power, listen to her journey of making Woman with Lana Del Rey. What a voice. What a woman.

OUR MORNING RITUAL

Amy's been on a WelleCo kick since our pre-summit days, starting every morning with her SUPER ELIXIR GREENS smoothie and swearing by this magical green powder that promises just the sort of health and beauty benefits we are always seeking. She's almost four months in and here's what she's noticed: no caffeine cravings and sustained energy throughout the day. Fewer headaches, even after one glass too many. Glowy skin, a clearer complexion, and less redness. Less bloating (read: less gas) and fewer sugar cravings. We're concocting new recipes to get us through the chaotic holiday season, but for now, our go-to Super Elixir smoothie is super simple and a perfect start to the day. Drink your greens here.
