5 Questions With Broadway Singer Grace Field
Singer Grace Field shares her ultimate Broadway bucket list — and her three original cast recording desert island picks
"Divine" — that's how Alan Menken once described Grace Field, the acclaimed singer, actor and pianist who recently starred in his adaptation of Hercules at The Public Theater in New York.

Before she shows off her voice and love for Jewish Broadway composers in the upcoming live streaming concert A Broadway L'Chaim, we chatted with the rising theatre star about working with legendary composers like Menken and Stephen Schwartz — and why a new UK musical made the cut as one of her three desert island picks.
1.  You're a member of the Tony-honored group Broadway Inspirational Voices, you've shared the stage with Hugh Jackman on the Today show and you're set to perform live at Carnegie Hall next year. What's left on your theatre bucket list?
So many things! I would absolutely love to be the first American to play both Christine in Phantom of the Opera and Glinda in Wicked on Broadway. I've been called back for both, and I'm hopeful one of these dreams will come true. Also, I would love to originate a role on Broadway — that would be awesome!
2.  Your upcoming show A Broadway L'Chaim celebrates Jewish Broadway composers and Yiddish songs. What drew you to these songs and this theme?
I've always been drawn to the Jewish traditions, culture and of course, the songs. I had the privilege of working with Zalmen Mlotek in New York on several occasions with National Theatre Yiddish Folksbiene singing in Yiddish and thought how great it was to be able to sing in such a rare and beautiful language. With Rosh Hashanah coming up in the calendar, I thought it would be a great way to take my love of song to celebrate the time of Jewish celebration.
