rantnrave:// Curated a ridiculous amount of great stuff this week so thought I'd send you guys a Sunday edition for the curious. Because that's what we do, curiosity... Last night I stayed in and continued my 4-year long obsession with the COLD WAR. AMAZON PRIME VIDEO is a great resource for documentaries on WWII (pre and post), espionage and Communists vs. Capitalists. They have tons of a la carte stuff to watch but I also subscribe to XIVETV, CURIOSITY STREAM, AND HISTORY VAULT to satiate my needs. With all the talk of that stupid wall, I decided to watch, "BUSTING THE BERLIN WALL." The description reads: "For 28 years, the Berlin Wall split a city and a whole nation. While the notorious dangers frightened many GDR citizens, there were others who tried to overcome it. Families fly across the border in a home-made hot air balloon or swing over the Wall hanging from a makeshift pulley. The Wall still works but Communism is crumbling behind it. Suddenly, the borders are open, and the Wall comes down." Millions were fleeing. They wanted freedom. A life with their countrymen. The wall prevented it. The stories of separation are heartbreaking. The stories of escape and reunion are nothing short of amazing. Then I turned my sights to "COLD WAR ROADSHOW, " the story of "one of the most bizarre episodes in the annals of modern history--the unprecedented trip across AMERICA in 1959 by Soviet Premier NIKITA KHRUSHCHEV, the world leader of communism and America's arch nemesis. The visit was an opportunity to halt the escalating threats of the Cold War and chart a new course toward peaceful coexistence." Totally interesting but also was taken aback by how snarky and editorial the comments were in those days from American newscasters. It's gotten worse, but with the passing of time, it really shows... Happy Birthday to SANDY CLIMAN, LEYLA TURKKAN, and ADRIAN SEDLIN. ROMAN TSUN, JASON JANEGO, LUCY BLODGETT FISHER, ALICE PETERSON, SACHA PENSON DUBÉARN, SALIL MEHTA, BLAKE INDURSKY, VANESSA PENSON, and DANNY MORROW.
