The Edge of the Wood Resident Theatre and School celebrates 20 years in northwest Chicago in 2020! The Theatre School is a three-term program where young people, ages 6-18, become versed in acting, improv, speech, movement, and musical theatre skills in a professional atmosphere. Our inclusive philosophy means every student is afforded an opportunity to perform in front of an audience. The Resident Theatre produces two to three family-friendly shows across genres each season, bringing professional theatre to the Edgebrook community, while engaging and inspiring young people as performers and as theatre-goers. Past productions include Pride and Prejudice, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Our Town, Into the Woods, and The Secret Garden. Donations allow us to offset losses from the recent COVID-19 outbreak which forced us to cancel/postpone our Resident Theatre production of Will Eno’s award-winning play, Middletown, and to provide scholarship opportunities to students in our after-school programs when they resume.
