5 Questions With Beatles Tribute Band The Fab Four
The Fab Four's Gavin Pring on the joys & challenges of playing George — and his surprise run-in with Paul McCartney
It was a long and winding road, but the Beatles' last few years together gave us some of their most beautiful and deeply personal songs.

Before The Fab Four's Gavin Pring brings late-era George Harrison to the stage alongside his mates in this Saturday's live streaming Beatles tribute concert The Fab Four: The Break-Up, we picked his brain about the Beatles tunes he's discovered during quarantine, creative ways audiences are watching their shows at home — and that time he performed for Paul McCartney.
1.  Have you ever had the chance to meet any of the Beatles in person?
When George passed away in 2001, The Fab Four had a show in 2002, which was the first birthday George would have had if he'd survived. It was a big show in Liverpool, and the rumor was that Paul McCartney was going to come. So I'm standing on the edge of the stage, and I'd just performed — and the next thing I know, Paul McCartney's right there! Our manager at the time says, "This is Gavin, he plays George." And Paul goes, "You look a little bit like George, actually." And I said, "You look a little bit like Paul!"
2.  Now that you're performing for virtual audiences around the world, are there any surprising ways they're watching the show live at home?
A friend of mine actually created an old vintage 1960s television, so she's been watching it on this little TV that she made — that's the most vintage set-up I've seen. To go the other way, our friend Nana got a big massive screen outside with her HD projector, and she takes the speakers out so she can watch us live by the swimming pool. Hopefully she doesn't knock one of those speakers into the swimming pool!
