7 Years Ago On A Monday Night...
I laid on the couch, put on some headphones, and played whatever music came to mind.
The result was my It's Monday. It's 10:19 pm. playlist.
Sinatra. CCR. Beastie Boys. Sly and the Family Stone. Allen Toussaint. Moby. The Kinks. Big Audio Dynamite. Beck.
Eclectic enough for you?
My Final Words Of The Week
Every night I tell my 2-year-old daughter a bedtime story.
It's completely improvised.
(And usually about animals.)
Some of the stories turn out well, some don't.
But this week I tried something new.
I chose a lesson to convey in each story before improvising it.
One night was about being patient, one was about being grateful, and one about dealing with failure.
Suddenly, the stories got MUCH better (and easier to create).
My daughter even clapped at the end of one!
(Nothing beats an applause break from your daughter.)
There's a lesson here that goes beyond bedtime stories.
The clearer the goal for your writing, the easier and better it will be.
The more your writing is designed to provide a specific value to its audience?
The more likely that audience is to find it valuable.
Have an interesting week!
