HELLO POSTMAN FANS!
Well, I was sitting here yesterday morning doing
the finishing touches for the day's postman page when
I heard a "pop" and everything went dark. The power
grid had gone down. It used to be, 20 or 30 years ago,
we rarely, if ever, lost power in this neighborhood. But
as the grid ages, and Consumers Power fails to keep up
with necessary upgrades, that has changed. These days,
it seems like we lose power maybe once a month during
the summer months and the storm season. It is a particularly
aggravating issue for a guy like me when I use electric
equipment for breathing. Have to make sure my alternate
systems are ready to go. So I spent most of yesterday at
the state park with the war department and a good book
to read. A good book is always a nice way to kill the
afternoon. It was a little chilly for summer time. But the
nice part of that,,,no mosquitoes! The power did not
come back on till later last night, but it was a good day.
