Giving Thanks For Tomorrow

Hello Wonderful.
We are thankful for the rain today. We are thankful to be alive with a roof over our heads. We are thankful for the firefighters and all the good citizens who have helped the victims of the brutal fires. And we are thankful for you, dear reader, for supporting our indie newsletter so we two friends can continue working together and doing what we love. Many kind souls are up in Chico this week serving hot Thanksgiving meals to thousands of evacuees and responders. You too can help by joining us with a contribution to World Central Kitchen, a group of chefs creating smart solutions to hunger and poverty through their chef network. To date, they've already served 130,000 meals to survivors of the Camp and Woolsey fires.

100% Editorial picks. No pay for play. Ever.

The Work. Wisdom gleaned from Benefits of A Year-Round Attitude of Gratitude in the Workplace in ForbesWomen: "Gratitude is a powerful concept. It goes beyond praise, beyond positive reinforcement. Gratitude is a recognition of our interdependence, of the fact that success is the result of team effort."

The Flick. Looking for a funny movie to watch with the fam? Addams Family Values is a Darkly Funny Thanksgiving Satire. Twenty-five years later, it still holds up.

The Wait.  Every year we debate about when to start Thanksgiving. Some of us prefer lunch so we can spend the evening digesting (cocktailing) while others like the tradition of a more formal dinner. Here's a definitive, logical answer to an unresolved question from The Atlantic.

The Wit.  A spot comedy for your viewing enjoyment from Jimmy Kimmel on Friendsgiving. Fun for everyone except maybe Matt Damon.

The Tracks.  We're sitting around today updating our Perennials Playlist on Spotify, 12 hours of songs for long multi-generational get togethers ranging from Led Zeppelin to Lady Gaga and everything in between.

THE HOLIDAY HEALTHY HOME GIFT

We've been indoors and out of the smoke for the past two weeks. Our EO everyone diffuser was a lungsaver. Sometimes we start our morning with the Balance blend and this morning we are chilling with Relax. For the holidays, this diffuser and essential oil set will be our go-to gift. We never fully understood how or why to use essential until we interviewed EO's co-CEO, Susan Griffin-Black, who became so enamored with the benefits of essential oils she created a company out of it. Now, we use essential oils and our diffuser as part of our morning and evening rituals. See our intervew with Susan on our Fb page and give the gift of health here.
