Hi Friends-
Reflecting on intuition and how we "know" what we know is one of my favorite subjects, and I speak about it often.
But the personal anecdotes I share are usually about when things are going well with my intuition — when I hear it and heed it, and magical things happen.
Today, I want to talk about less magical circumstances: What happens when we don't hear that inner guidance, or when we ignore it.
Because I do that, too.
In fact, I just did it in a big way with my new course, Finding Your Voice.
When I tuned in about the timing for the course, my gut said: You should schedule this course to start right after the new year. Folks will be in the right mindset and have space for it then.
And even though I knew my intuition was correct, I ignored it.
I had other things going on that lured me into operating from a scarcity mindset, so I decided to "accelerate" the dates against my better judgment.
That led me to slate the course for a mid-November start, which, especially for people in the US, is a funky timeframe that kind of straddles Thanksgiving.
Long story short, I forced the launch. And nothing good ever comes out of the energy of forcing. (That was in fact the entire subject matter of CHANNEL, a course I taught over the summer.)
But I'm not perfect. So sometimes I do ignore my intuition, or I do try to force things, or I do act out of a scarcity mindset. We all do. And that's okay.
That's why I'm writing about this even though it ostensibly doesn't make me look very good. I want to give myself (and everyone else) grace for the moments when I don't act with grace.
I want to highlight how easy it is to veer off-course from your own inner knowing. At which point you can: a) Beat yourself up about it, or b) Simply notice and acknowledge the detour, re-attune to your own inner compass, and then take a new, more aligned action.
So I am now re-attuning to that inner compass, and I'm making some changes.
In keeping with my original intuition, I have moved "Finding Your Voice: A sacred practice of honoring your self-expression" to the new year. The course will now be unfolding from January 3rd - February 6th, 2024.
Registration continues, and I've extended the $30-off early bird special until December 13th. If you're feeling called to step into deeper self-expression, I hope that these new dates make it easier for you to participate.
To re-orient away from the scarcity mindset that was pulling me out of touch with my intuition, I am committing to donating 10% of the proceeds of FYV, and all future courses, to causes and communities that I care about.
(Shout out to my friend Sebene for inspiration; she has been tithing 10% of her income for awhile now.)
I hope that this, uh, confession helps you offer yourself a little more grace when you miss the boat on an intuition or act from a place that doesn't feel entirely aligned with your values. And that that grace, in turn, can allow you to come back to yourself and embody that knowing, and those values, even more deeply.
Much love,
Jocelyn
Please join me for a free guided energy meditation.
I am so grateful to all of you for listening to, reading, and supporting my work. As an expression of my gratitude, I'm offering a free guided energy meditation on November 28th.
This gathering will be an opportunity to tune more deeply into a feeling of rootedness — to come back into the body and find your ground so that you can feel clear and resourced when you move back out into the world.

Invocation for consolation. I made a soothing new Spotify playlist that features Arooj Aftab, Alabaster DePlume, Four Tet, Hermanos Gutiérrez, Abou Diarra, Yungchen Lhamo, Cleo Soul, Bill Fay, and more. I welcome you to tune in.
The body's grace. A wonderful archival On Being interview with Matthew Sanford, a yoga teacher who has been paralyzed from the chest down since a car accident in 1978. I loved listening to Sanford talk about how things get lighter when you make more space in the body.
Through the smoke: The aftermath of the Maui wildfires. A stunning piece that goes to the heart of what really unfolded with the wildfires in Maui and their roots in colonialism and climate change. "The Lahaina fire reached temperatures more than a thousand degrees hotter than the temperature on Venus."
Wisdom from trans elders. I loved hearing my dear friend Sterling Cruz-Herr speak live about being a trans elder and what they learned from a moving interview series on trans-generational wisdom that they did for THEM magazine.
Oppression thrives on urgency. I resonated with Tayla Shanaye's perspective on urgency as the "energetic capital" that fuels oppression in this interview series for Humans Nature: "I feel so deeply that urgency is the capital of white supremacy; that urgency is the capital on which all of western civilization is built. It's an energetic capital that's fundamental to systems of oppression. Oppression thrives on urgency."
"My voice is my channel." I joined my friend Jazmine Russell on her excellent DEPTH Work podcast to talk about my own journey to finding my voice, tender discipline in a culture of urgency, and healing old wounds around self-expression.
3 Buddhist strategies for relating to a world in crisis. Amidst the horrors that are unfolding all over the world, Kaira Jewel Lingo talks about how to consume mindfully, stay centered, and take small actions that matter.

+ Hate speech turned into gender-affirming poetry.
