The Killer App?

Hello Wonderful.
There are only two of us here at The What HQ and we're not always experiencing the same things no matter what you might see on social media. While idyllic vacation photos may bubble up in our streams, there's also work to be done, struggles and heartache abound, and if we're lucky rare beauty to be found in both the lightest and darkest moments. As June comes to an end and we enter the dog days of summer, we hope you find sunny days even when life is no picnic.

The What List
June 29, 2018
by Gina Pell + Amy Parker
100% Editorial picks. No pay for play. Ever.

The Sun. We have been polling our readers for the past two years about their favorite sunscreens. Here are the top three winners. They're spendy for sure but they work well and we use them all year-long: La Roche Posay SPF 60, Avene Compact SPF 50 (comes in a makeup compact), and Skinmedica Total Defense SPF 50 (recommended by dermatologists and plastic surgeons).

The Summit. Tickets to our very first The What Summit, an all-woman event October 5, 2018, are going fast. Secure your spot here and stay tuned for more details on this very special day that promises to delight and inspire.

The Brim. One of the simplest and most elegant sun hats comes at a price but it's so well made that you won't have to replace it every summer.

The Swim. Why July is the most dangerous month to go swimming.

The Change. An App for menopause? It may not be perfect but at least someone's thinking about it. H/T to our friends at Neo.Life.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
We receive many kind letters from readers (and some complaints, mostly constructive). We received the one below on a particularly low day when we were feeling discouraged by our usual entrepreneurial challenges. It's comments like these that fill our sails and make running an independent media company worthwhile.

"So touched by THE WHAT hive and how everyone has rallied and helped. I've been sober many years with the help of the AA community. It's a very special community of love and support. Just people helping each other. Honestly I've never seen anything like it until this thread of women rallying with love and truth. Anyway I just wanted to say "good on you" for creating such a safe and loving place. I see it daily but today, for me, was different. It's changed me."  xo
