Special Weekend Edition

Hello Wonderful.

Hustling to get to meetings on time, dog-paddling to the top of our inboxes, trying to figure out how we're going to meet deadlines with panache, insomnia, anxiety, repeat. There's something punishingly exhilarating in this flurry of productivity but only because we know there's an end in sight when we can take off the rocket fuel pack and regroup. Earlier this week we had a video chat with Dr. Lisa Mosconi, a neuroscientist and neuronutritionist who will be speaking on Women's Brain Health at The What Summit. It was a timely reminder that when we're stressed we should turn to healthy comfort foods and not reach for the standard greasy carb-laden go-tos.

THE WHAT LIST

100% Editorial picks. No pay for play. Ever.

The Style.

Do you know a VSCO girl? Check out this surprising fashion trend inspired by a photo app, of all things.

The App.

Speaking of photo apps, we also love Focos for when the iPhone Portrait mode just doesn't cut it. Great for uploading older photos and giving them a DSLR wow factor.

The Mock.

Our frientor James is our guide to random genius on the web like JEFFSUM, a designer's dream that generates Lorem Ipsum text inspired by the actor Jeff Goldblum. And if you're jonesing for an 80s fix while waiting for the return of Stranger Things, go to Poolside.fm for a swim in their refreshingly retro OS featuring 80s video clips and music.

The Podcast.

Next month in Los Angeles, October 3-4, WNYC Studios is putting on Werk It, an annual gathering for women shaping the future of podcasting. Join their growing community of female and non-binary hosts, writers, reporters, editors, engineers, social media managers, marketers, sound designers, video producers, entrepreneurs, and executives in all stages of their careers. H/T Brandi for this gem.
