This week
I've been in Ireland for a wedding and a few days of relaxation, so I spent the past week mostly ignoring the internet while sleeping late, dodging sheep, and drinking Guinness. Thanks in advance for getting over your disappointment with my uncharacteristically thin links section today.

Oh, and if you haven't taken the survey yet, I'd still love to hear from you. It'll be live for one more week. Click here to answer a few questions, and I'll enter you in a drawing to win one of 10 free classified ads or 5 care packages (yes, like old-fashioned through-the-mail packages) from me.

I'm reading
Mostly, books: Rachel Cusk's Aftermath. Anna Burns's Milkman. Sally Rooney's Normal People. Gloria Naylor's Mama Day.

Also: How institutions protect powerful men accused of bad behavior. OxyContin and the history of pain medication. What sand and oil have in common. The stories that Miami real estate agents tell about climate change. The unfinished marathon of Nipsey Hussle. A generation abandons drinking.
