Money man: YG's third album, "Stay Dangerous," is out today on Def Jam.

rantnrave:// Just because YG recorded the great protest song of the TRUMP era doesn't mean he's required to do more like it. But he should be allowed to. If he wants to. But the COMPTON rapper, whose third album, STAY DANGEROUS, is out today, tells ROLLING STONE, "I don't wanna do nothing with Trump. I got an open case right now, I'm cool." Translation: It's 2018 and musicians think the government is listening to their records. And punishing them if necessary. Paranoia? Or completely understandable? The fact that there's even a question is all you need to know. Even the the NFL, which itself has been under WHITE HOUSE scrutiny lately, may be listening a little too closely to YG records. His "BIG BANK" is featured in the NFL-sanctioned MADDEN 19 video game, and a TWITTER user on Thursday noticed a name had been edited out of a BIG SEAN guest verse in the Madden version—that of COLIN KAEPERNICK, persona non grata in both the league and the current White House. The quarterback's girlfriend, NESSA DIAB, publicly complained; Big Sean called the unauthorized edit "disappointing and appalling," and later Thursday, the game's maker, EA SPORTS, took the blame, saying, "We messed up." If you find yourself asking, "Did you actually mess up, or were you just caught?," you're not alone. But at least the game company is going to make it right. YG, meanwhile, just donated $150,000 to GIRL CODE LA, a startup mentoring young women who want to work in tech. Because artists are cool like that... Under pressure from the songwriting and publishing communities, BLACKSTONE—parent company of SESAC and HARRY FOX—agreed to a compromise and withdrew its objections to the MUSIC MODERNIZATION ACT on Thursday. Hurdles remain in the US SENATE, but the music biz is in increasingly widespread agreement on what it wants. Which is rare, to say the least... WARNER MUSIC acquires UPROXX (congrats to JARRET MYER and team!)... MUSICAL.LY is now TIKTOK... The NICO biopic NICO, 1988 opens today... Punk-rock airplane... DRAKE takes the "IN MY FEELINGS" challenge... Sunday would have been ADAM YAUCH's 54th birthday, and RED BULL's interactive tour of his OSCILLOSCOPE studio, aka The House That Yauch Built, is a beautiful tribute you can get lost in... It's FRIDAY and that means new music from YG as well as TRAVIS SCOTT, SHEMEKIA COPELAND, MAC MILLER, AMANDA SHIRES, LOVELYTHEBAND, LUCERO, REZZ, BAKA NOT NICE, IGGY AZALEA, PEABO BRYSON, THE LOVE LANGUAGE, MIKE PACE & THE CHILD ACTORS, ULTRAPHONIX, TROPHY EYES, JAMES, Q DA FOOL, CAMPDOGZZ, JIM LAUDERDALE and RILEY CLEMMONS... RIP RICK "ZOMBIE BOY" GENEST.
