Playbill Virtual Theatre Fest Takes Our "12 Shows in 12 Words" Challenge
We asked the 12 playwrights featured in this year's Playbill Virtual Theatre Festival to describe their new shows — in just 12 words!
Roses. Donuts. Strikes in a perfect game of bowling.

Great things always come in dozens — just like this weekend's Playbill Virtual Theatre Festival, a new online short play showcase featuring 12 fully produced works that you can stream live from home.

So what can you expect from the Playbill VTF's 12 original short works? To find out, we thought we'd have a little fun with the playwrights, so we challenged them to tease their shows for us in just 12 words or fewer. Here's what they came up with:
1.  Corona's Cabaret
"If the coronavirus were a nightclub singer, this would be her act." — Oliviana Marie
2.  Current Resident
"Two gay men contemplate family, responsibilities and a deceased friend's unopened mail." — Benjamin Scuglia
3.  Simon Says
"The futuristic world ... two soul mates ... reconnect ... incubating ... to become breeders ... !!" — Coni Koepfinger
4.  Our Time
"During a pandemic, the tie that binds us together is our humanity." — Kelsey Celek
5.  Lester Collins Takes Five
"A seasoned jazz man advises a younger player on a musician's life." — Mel Nieves
6.  Mystics Parting
"The world is ending and mom is leaving us for Butch Cassidy?" — Dennis Russo
7.  Renewal
"What if you had to renew your marriage license?" — Stephen Murray
8.  Minute Decision
"Two people, 10 minutes, one decision: Should we get married?" — Hira Ismail
9.  You Can Bake
"Desperation takes hold when Lila's Zoom baking class goes off the rails." — Adrea Aptecker
10.  Chopstick
"A mysterious portal appears at the bottom of a takeout container." — Kate McMorran
11.  8:46
"A white Republican senator speaks out after the murder of George Floyd." — Jason Odell Williams
12.  Who Did It
"The screwball comedy murder mystery where you decide: Who Did It?" — Robbie Cowan
