The misunderstanding about the song 'War' is that the song was never, ever supposed to be about the Vietnam War. What [Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong] were simply writing about was the conflicts that people were facing on a day-to-day basis in the United States at the same time. |

Spring Song "How does the grass grow? / Blood, blood, blood." "Fighter jets over my city / Cool contrails in the sky." "They swept across the land / They did not leave a thing." "Motherf*** a war." "What is it good for? / Absolutely nothin'!" "Ten million mothers' hearts must break." "This is a world destruction / Your life ain't nothing." "It's up to you. It's up to you. It's up to you." "- - - - - - - - - -." Apologies my heart is elsewhere today. Music a little louder in the apartment, for sustenance as always, but also for anger, for anxiety, for abstract answers. TV off as much as possible. Mind racing. Trying to muster some righteous anger about the ACADEMY AWARDS kicking composers to the curb at this year's ceremony (along with film editors and production designers and a few other Hollywood crafts, seriously WTF, read STANLEY KUBRICK's thoughts on editing), surely the most, let's say, curious decision any awards show has made in the past few years. The original song nominees should boycott the ceremony in honor of their harder-working peers NICHOLAS BRITELL, GERMAINE FRANCO, JONNY GREENWOOD, ALBERTO IGLESIAS and HANS ZIMMER and take their sync rights with them: No ENCANTO songs in the telecast, no BILLIE & FINNEAS songs, no music at all. That's what I think, if anyone's looking for suggestions. Not that I care all that much. The Motion Picture Academy doesn't; why should I? But also, the world. HITPIECE, the startup that tried to create an NFT of every song in the world, whatever that possibly could have meant, without asking anyone for permission, is pretending it deserves a second chance and approaching artists about legit partnerships, which, LOL, thanks I needed a laugh today, even if if it didn't last long. The world, the world, the world. "You may get used to it but you never get over it." LIVE NATION had a nice Q4, Omicron and Delta and other current events notwithstanding. "I'm singing the spring song to you." Rest in Peace Gospel songwriter/producer DERRICK LEE, best known as the musical director on BET's "Bobby Jones Gospel"... | Musical artists are finding greener ways to tour to help fight climate change | By Bill Forman | In the current climate of political and corporate greenwashing, it's hard to gauge the sincerity, let alone feasibility, of the major labels' Music Climate Pact. In the meantime, a number of artists have already begun taking steps to reduce touring's carbon footprint on their own. | | |

| Why is Pop Punk Coming Back? (feat. This time around, Gen-Z is at the forefront, and artists like Willow, Meet Me @ The Altar and Pink Shift are creating an inclusive community unlike anything this genre has seen before. | | |

| A Song of Will: On Betty Davis's Anti Love Song | By Harmony Holiday | Betty Davis, who was born Betty Mabry and earned the Davis through a tumultuous one year marriage to trumpeter Miles Davis, used the raunchy seductive quality of her blues streak to access the divine through song and style. | | |

| Alina Pash: Singer won't represent Ukraine at Eurovision | By Steve Holden | The 28-year-old had won a TV show to represent her country at the event, but she has withdrawn from the process, with "a heavy heart". Ukraine's national broadcaster, UA:PBC, said it had decided to "cease her participation". It had been investigating a 2015 trip she made to Crimea, an area Russia seized control of in 2014. | | |
