Dear Friend- Spots are filling up for the Radiate community, and I would love to have you join while space is still available. You can register here. I strongly believe that if you participate in Radiate, you will come out a different person than when you went in. I believe this because it is my conviction that we are at a key inflection point — personally, culturally, and globally. One in which we can allow ourselves to fall back into the sleepwalking stupor of the old normal, or we can awaken to, and actively create, a new normal. As I was going through my notes this Juneteenth weekend, I found a quote from writer and activist Alice Walker that captures the feeling of this moment, and the nascent transformative possibilities that it contains. In a talk given at Spelman College, collected in her book Living by the Word, Walker said: "Some periods of our growth are so confusing that we don't even recognize that growth is happening. We may feel hostile or angry or weepy and hysterical, or we may feel depressed. It would never occur to us, unless we stumbled on a book or a person who explained to us, that we were in fact in the process of change, of actually becoming larger, spiritually, than we were before. Whenever we grow, we tend to feel it, as a young seed must feel the weight and inertia of the earth as it seeks to break out of its shell on its way to becoming a plant. Often the feeling is anything but pleasant. But what is most unpleasant is the not knowing what is happening... Those long periods when something inside ourselves seems to be waiting, holding its breath, unsure about what the next step should be." My goal with Radiate is to create a sacred container, a safe harbor, for this essential unfolding to occur. For us to figure out together what the next step should be, and to — ultimately — become larger, more radiant, than we were before. The Radiate community will provide real, actionable ideas and tools for raising these changes that are bubbling up into consciousness — for integrating all that has been unmasked and revealed to us during the pandemic. I know it sounds like a lofty goal. But the only way to make real change is to start by believing it's possible. I invite you to join me in believing. Wishing you a restful and restorative jubilee weekend. Much love, Jocelyn |
