*In-person events are back!* Here's what's happening this summer:

We binged Tiger King. We Zoom-butchered "Happy Birthday." We perfected sourdough (well, sort of). And now, after a year of learning to make our own fun at home, live in-person events are finally — finally! — back again in a big way. Going out and making new memories with family and friends is incredibly exciting, and maybe just a little daunting — so here's a glimpse of what you can expect when you go out and all the fun things you can experience from coast to coast this summer. Going Out Is Back ... With a Few Changes Yep, pretty much every type of live event you've missed is returning this summer, though there are some important updates for 2021: • Yes, masks are still a part of going out in 2021, though their use is relaxed for many outdoor events, especially where it's easier to maintain social distancing. • Some venues may require proof of vaccination to enter, whether it's a physical copy or screenshot of your vaccination card, or by sharing your status via a "vaccine passport" app like IBM's Excelsior Pass. And certain venues, like L.A.'s Dodger Stadium, are giving fully vaccinated fans access to special higher-capacity seating sections. • You're likely to see capacity restrictions at live event venues, plus wider use of contactless payment for concessions and the use of QR codes in place of physical tickets for admission. (If you're new to QR codes, here's a quick primer.) • You may be asked to answer a few COVID-related health questions before you're allowed to enter a venue. • It's important to remember that these safety protocols vary by state, county and even venue, so it's best to check the venue's website or call the box office before you go. The good news: No matter what your comfort level is right now, there's a wide variety of live entertainment options this summer.
