GOOD MORNING POSTMAN FANS!
I looked out the window when I woke up
from yesterday's nap, to discover the city had
moved in on our street with a vengeance. Big trucks.
Dozers, backhoes. A big crew of doods ripping up the pavement,
all making a lot of noise, just not sure how much work they
were doing. However, it took little time to make mince meat out
of the street and most of the curb. The city is in the process of
upgrading its sewer system. In the older neighbor hoods, the storm
drains and the sewer drains are one in the same. Meaning, when it rains,
tons of water run into the sewer and tons of it mixed with sewage runs
out and overflows, mostly into the river that runs thru town. So, in an
effort to upgrade and be more "green", the city has been in the process
of upgrading the sewer system city wide for the past 2 years. They are just
now getting around to our hood. This is all a result of a grant they got from
the good ole stimulus package that President Barry sponsored that was gonna
help us out of the recession. I look up and down the street observing that
the number of foreclosures on our block seems to have increased since 2008,
rather than decreased. Sigh, well it certainly is nice to have a better sewer
system. Just too bad that so many of my neighbors are not around to enjoy it.
Interestingly, in the 30 years I've lived here, I never once had sewage backup
in the basement. Can't help but wonder, u suppose just maybe some of those bux
shudda been used to help these people so they didn't lose their homes?
OK, I'm just a joke teller, what do I know.
