GOOD MORNING POSTMAN FANS!
After some agonizing thought, I recently made the
decision to change my primary care physician. It was
not easy, as I have gone to this doc and clinic for
years. We first started there because it was originally one
of those walkin kind of deals: you could see the doc without
an appointment. They had a lot of doctors on staff at
that time, and I kept requesting to see one in particular
and we eventually developed a good rapport. However, times
change. A former staff of 8 docs, and all but 2 of them have
retired. You can still do a walkin without an appointment, but
the thing is, their replacements? All physicians assistants. If
you specifically request a physician, rather than a PA, you can,
only thing is, u have to wait like 6 weeks to get in. I might be
dead by then. And so its time to make the switch. Now,
I got no problem seeing a PA. I am sure they are quite qualified. but this
is my problem. Regardless of whether I see a regular doc or a physician's
assistant, I'm still gonna be charged a docs fee. I know that is
standard practice in the industry, but seems to me, if you are getting
something less than what you ask for, then you should be charged less.
But apparantly the medical community does not see it that way. Suppose
you take your car to a mechanic. Would you be happy having them work on
your car if the dood was not a  mechanic? well, maybe you might,
but mechanics charge more than doctors these days, And I do not like being
short changed on either.
